Note 1 : due to the limited accommodation in Gairlochy, it may be necessary to accommodate you in the village of Spean Bridge. From previous experience, many walkers have found this section to be relatively easy and most have actually walked the additional 3 miles from Gairlochy Locks into Spean Bridge. However, a transfer service is always offered as an option and most walkers took advantage of the service the next morning to make their way back to Gairlochy Locks.

Note 2 : if you do not wish to walk an 18 mile stage from Drumnadrochit to Inverness then it is necessary to split the journey at either Blackfold (directly on route) or Dochgarroch (tearoom available at Dochgarroch although this is a diversion from the official route). However, there is no accommodation at either of these locations so in the past we have transferred walkers back to Drumadrochit for their overnight stay and back up to Blackfold the following morning. Walkers have been very pleased with this arrangement although it should be noted that there is a transfer charge involved.
