The Rob
Roy Way
| Route Options | Route Map | Gallery | Prices & Booking | The
Rob Roy Way is a new walk which is 79 miles (126 km) long, starting
from the picturesque village of Drymen and completing in the bustling
tourist town of Pitlochry. It
is a beautiful walk, taking you through many woodland paths and
passing by the lovely waters of Loch Venachar, Loch Lubnaig, Loch Earn
and Loch Tay. As it’s
name suggests, it follows through many places linked with Rob Roy
MacGregor, the legendary Scottish outlaw. It
should be noted that the Rob Roy Way is not signposted but the Way is
easy to follow once in possession of comprehensive route notes which
Easyways’ clients will receive at no extra charge.
Easyways would also like to highlight that there is around 19
miles of road walking but not all at once, split between
the various stages. The roads are quiet and picturesque and we found
them not to be too tiresome. We feel that the scenery, standard of accommodation and
hospitality makes up for it. The
Rob Roy Way can offer all types of accommodation including youth
hostels, b&bs, guest houses, inns and hotels. However, it should be noted that not all types are available at
every stage. You will see from our guidelines on Accommodation Prices that we have divided the different types of accommodation into bands. This is to give you an indication of what you are likely to pay. However, you can choose a mixture of types, eg a Youth Hotel one evening and a hotel the next. It is designed to be totally flexible and to suit each client's individual needs. All subject to availability of course! |
